PRAY FOR HAITI - 40 DAYS OF PRAYER - DAY 32

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

As a result of repenting and turning from our wicked ways, God forgives us and brings healing. In the case of 2Chronicles7:14 it refers to healing our land. In James 5:16, it refers to healing in our body. “Therefore confess your sins one to another and pray for one another and you may be healed…” Whether it’s physical, emotional, spiritual or geographical, healing is the result of repenting and turning from our wicked ways. Let’s conclude our story about Bishop Eugene Tanniehill. When he repented he experienced spiritual and emotional healing and as a healed man the Lord used him mightily. The prison had a population of 5,000 of the most violent and notorious men in America. In spite of the violence, the Lord used Bishop to lead 2,886 men to the Lord. In the prison he planted four churches started two seminaries; he wrote several books and even earned his college degree. Three documentaries were produced highlighting his life. One was called “The Farm” which was nominated for an Oscar. His sentenced was reduced several times until he was released from prison. One of the last things the governor of Louisiana did after hurricane Katrina was release Bishop Eugene Tanniehill from prison. Prior to releasing him he had to undergo a psychological test to see if he can function in the regular world. To their amazement they found him to be perfectly sound in mind and judgment. Bishop said” he kept his mind on the Lord by memorizing scripture.” Isa 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trust in you. Bishop was released to the care of the Brooklyn Tabernacle where he is featured on several of their DVD’s. Today at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, there stands a life size statue of Bishop Eugene Tanniehill, “The Bishop of Angola.” He is still serving the Lord by going back to Louisiana State Penitentiary where he is an inspiration to many of the inmates there. He also goes our local jails and prisons such as Riker’s Island preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Healing comes after repentance. Just as the Lord will bring healing to individuals who repent and turn from their wicked ways and used him mightily; as He did with Bishop Tannielhill, He will also bring healing to the land and use that country mightily when His people repent and turn from their wicked ways as we hope with Haiti. Tonight, pray for healing for Haiti. Also, continue to pray for a revival of repentence.
