Dear Friends and Colleagues in the Faith.

PRAY FOR HAITI 40 DAYS OF PRAYER -DAY 26

***Tonight at 7pm the Beraca Baptist Church Pray for Haiti 40 Days of Prayer will AIRED LIVE across Haiti on Radio Lumiere. Please join your hearts and voices with ours as we lift up Haiti before the Lord
Judges 10:15-16
15 But the Israelites said to the LORD, “We have sinned. Do with us whatever you think best, but please rescue us now.” 16 Then they got rid of the foreign gods among them and served the LORD. And he could bear Israel’s misery no longer.

Israel strayed away from God and began serving foreign gods and as a result they were in great distress. Turning away from God to serve other gods is a blatant in-your-face type of idolatry. However, there is another blatant kind of idolatry that is practiced among Christians (in this particular case Haitians Christians) that is equally an affront to God. It is Christians who serve God when things are going well for them. On the surface they seem genuine but when difficult times come, when God seems like he is not there, when He takes too long to answer their prayers, these Christians have what we can call a back-up plan, They will go into their closets or under their bed and bring out their altars and begin to invoke other gods. Others will visit voodoo priests and priestess and make covenants. “Blatant Idolatry.” This includes pastors, elders, deacons, Sunday school teachers and regular self-professing Christians. They are part of the problem of Haiti and they must repent so that the hand of God moves favorable upon Haiti. As we pray tonight, let us declare a movement of repentance, first among the people of God all across the nation of Haiti. Ask the Lord to convict their hearts so that they may say as the children of Israel said to the Lord, “We have sinned. Do with us whatever you think best, but please rescue us now.” Then pray that they get “rid of the foreign gods among them and served the LORD.”
