Haiti is a small country with big problems. I was talking with a friend who recently came from Haiti and he made a statement “The problems you don’t see are greater than the problems you do see in Haiti.” You could imagine how my heart sank when I heard these words. In the above passage the disciples who were intrigued with how Jesus prayed asked, “Lord, Teach us to pray…” I sense they figured that Jesus not only knew how to pray but whom to pray to and what to pray for. The disciples witnessed how Jesus had a handle on everything because when He prayed, things in the visible and invisible world came to order. I am sure this must have astounded them. The same is true for Haiti. God has a handle on Haiti, both the visible and invisible. It is up to us to approach the Lord and ask “Lord teach me how to pray for Haiti” and He will. It will just be a matter of time when we begin to see that He does have a handle on everything, both visible and invisible.
