Pray For Haiti 40 Days of Prayer Day 20

Scripture: 1Samuel 8:6-7
But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.

When we look at the condition of Haiti, it is easy to look to other country’s leaders and their leadership style, their economy and structure to benchmark what Haiti and Haiti’s leader should resemble. The neighboring Dominican Republic and all of the island nations seem to be flourishing while Haiti is in disarray. Though benchmarking is important however, choosing a leader solely on those bases would be a travesty. When the children of Israel chose a king solely on what they saw other nations doing, it led them to reject God and his godly leader Samuel. I believe Haiti like every other nation is unique and should not be a carbon copy. If they turn to God and seek godly leaders, they will become a unique benchmark. Haiti was once called the “Pearl of the Antiquities” but if they turn to God as their leader and seek His face for their leaders they will become the crown jewel of the Caribbean and not a duplication of another country? Let us pray and ask the Lord to turn the hearts of the Haitian people to God and not to other nations as their benchmark.

With U4 Him
